I can never identify with these things because I’m so lucky my parents think I’m interesting and worthy all by myself. <3 The closest my mother ever came to this was having my dad tell us for her birthday she didn't want gifts, just to see us. Yes, I went to visit that weekend!
You are lucky, Claire. This chart so echoed the types of conversation loops that I had with my parents (well, actually my mother). It wasn’t until my mother died that I first had a dinner (and extended conversation) alone with my Dad. But those were different times.
Like Claire, I’m grateful that my mother never pressured me to get married/find a partner. I was a late bloomer, so I know that the career thing weighed on her mind, though.
The “Dad” side of the Venn diagram is pretty spot on, though!
