A friend of mine posted this on Facebook: “For the first time in 15 years of dropping off kids at schools, I felt scared. I had a pit in my stomach. I have always depended on schools, for 7 hours a day, to be a place where I don’t have to worry about my kids when I am at work. But today was different. It seems like the tipping point. And I hate how it feels.”
Midterms are coming. Let’s throw the bums out.

They always respond with “thoughts and prayers”. Well, that’s just not good enough. It’s just a cheap and easy way of pretending to be concerned without actually doing something about the problem.
The one sign of hope is the younger generation, most directly impacted, that is speaking out. I have to believe they can break the logjam.
I am in awe of the students for their bravery and honesty. They give me so much hope.
They’re amazing. And I really believe they can make progress.
