Spring is more nuanced in Los Angeles than other climates, but there are scents and flowering plants here that only come alive this time of year. One of my favorites is the Jacaranda tree with its blueish-purple blossoms. I love gazing at them on the tree, but also once they’ve fallen on the dark green grass. What buds are you most looking forward to?

Lilacs and peonies! But a simple daffodil also thrills me during this cold Boston spring.
It’s near impossible to find lilacs in L.A. But I remember them fondly. They’re magnificent.
Lilacs and honeysuckle. Just love the scent of those! And hoping my saucer magnolia blooms this year. Last year, it was starting to bloom and we were hit by a freeze. We had frost (again!) last night, but I am hoping for the best.
What does a saucer magnolia bloom look like?
Lovely and pink. The full bloom stage, when the tree is awash is blossoms, only lasts for a few good days before the leaves come out. Looks like this (not sure if links are allowed):

My blooms are slightly paler.
Only 3 days. Wow. You can’t take that for granted.
That is so beautiful!
