Upside of Single, Executive Edition

This week, I was prepping one of my Coaching clients for a job interview, and we talked about being ready for frequently-asked questions, like – “what’s your biggest challenge at work?” I shared the response I’d love to give in an interview, but probably wouldn’t – “I want to be in charge.” We may not get to be in charge on the job, but at home, we’re the boss.

My mother loves children and was a wonderful mom’s mom in that she played with us, made our costumes, let us help cook and make a mess, etc. But she has a funny way of being honest with kids sometimes. I remember she told me offhandedly once when I was young, “whatever you do be the boss otherwise someone less smart than you will be telling you what to do.”
