I’m moved by the power of threes –
1. All set to renew my bi-annual subscription to The New Yorker, I balked. Will there be print magazines in two years? (I re-upped for a year.)
2. Endorsing a new book on his FB page, a friend wrote, “kindled it, read it, recommend it.”
3. Amazon announces today that sales of e-books have now exceeded those of hard covers.
Leafing through real paper is starting to feel quaint. Over the weekend, while my brother reveled in his new iPad, I played around with a Barnes and Noble Nook. Tell me, E-BOOK READERS – Are you satisfied? Which device do you recommend?

Interesting to have this post show up on the same day as a post over at AlterNet entitled How Amazon Kills Books and Makes Us Stupid…
I still enjoy real books in addition to books on my Kindle. I love the Kindle for travel reading – usually fluffy stuff that I don’t really want to keep in my permanent library, or e-versions of classics that would be too bulky to travel with. It’s nice to pay less for the e-version and not have to pass along or throw away the once-read paperback.
Cheers!
I looooove my Kindle. What I love most is the Free Sample feature, where you can download an endless supply of the beginnings of books, to see whether you like them or not. Yes, it’s dangerous, because most of the time after ten pages I’m hooked, and it’s all to easy to hit that “buy” button and think “Well, 7.99 isn’t THAT much. . . ” Then ten books later you’ve spent a hundred dollars. = ) I still love it though!
