I recently went on a Match.com date. We met at a music festival. 20 minutes into the meeting I wanted him to go away so I could enjoy the music on my own. I can’t get the balance right. Either I’m jealous of those having a good time with their partners or pining for “alone time”!

This epitomizes one of life’s biggest challenge. How to have to find value in the moment, even when it’s not ideal.

I just got back from a solo Midwest Cheese/Foodie road trip–one of the best vacations of my life! Traveling solo is more challenging in a way, because it forces one out of a comfort zone; i.e., you don’t have someone else to rely on for conversation, etc. But the rewards are so worth it. I met so many wonderful people and can’t wait for next year’s trip!

      What was your favorite meal?

The samples at the Dane County Farmers Market in Madison (WI)–the largest producer-only farmers market in the US! Not a place to go on a full stomach.

The best regional cheese I tried was Prairie Breeze, a cheddar from Milton Creamery in Iowa.

I’ve always really liked Sex and the City (Candace Bushnell’s original columns) and she said that she wrote the column in part to find out why so many people are single…”with a few year’s perspective on the issue I can safely conclude that we are all single because we want to be.”
I have a friend who part of the time sounds discouraged that he hasn’t married, and doesn’t think that he ever will, but at the same time will pass up invitations to potlucks in favor of watching a basketball game by himself in a bar……..and I think that I have a little bit of that in me too!
Love the artist Lizzy Stewart. My morning trip to the coffee shop is totally like meditation time.

When I turn down an invitation to a social event, so I can relax at home with my dog, it gives me pause. But, happily, not for too long!
