Today, I could no longer delay a car repair I’d been fretting about. When I got the call from my neighborhood mechanic that the car was ready, I walked over with dread. He took my credit card and sighed, “you’re not going to like this.” I took a deep breath. But then he grinned and said, “no charge!” We hugged. When I told him I had to race home to watch the World Series, the mechanic whispered that he was a Giants fan, not something readily admitted to in L.A. We hugged again. To top it off, the Giants just took the first game 7 – 1.

One of the hardest things about moving to a new place is not yet having a mechanic. (I’m not kidding!) I’m jealous of yours!!
In all of my years of owning a car, I’ve never had a mechanic this awesome. It’s a multi-generational family run business, just 2 blocks from my house. It wasn’t until I moved into this new neighborhood that I found them and I’m very grateful.
What a wonderful moment – those kinds of exchanges are such a treat.
Made my week, actually, even if the Giants lost last night.
I too hate car repair bills! Funny you mention the World Series as I live in KC! Go Royals!
Glad you gave the KC Royals a shout out, Dee. May the best team win!!
