Handwashing dishes-yes, vacuuming-yes (same reason as Heather, only instead of cats I have two Labs, the shedding champions of the dog world).
Others for me would be mowing the grass and ironing (the latter I almost never do anymore, oddly enough). And I love chopping vegetables. I have been a restaurant cook and have excellent knife skills:)
It’s an 8″ Zwilling Henckel four star chef’s knife. It’s perfectly balanced and feels good in your hand. I use it almost exclusively (apart from a few paring knives). My sister lived in Germany for several years so always bought me good German knives as gifts for Christmas, birthdays etc. I have had them for many years and they are as good as ever.
I just love the picture. Very appropriate for my part of the country today. If only we could vacuum up the dirty, black snow and turn it blindingly, beautifully white like it was on Sunday 🙂
Doing dishes by hand, though, is rather therapeutic.
That’s interesting. Just the other day, I was feeling gratitude for my dishwasher.
I said ‘yes’ only because I have a Dyson Animal and two cats. It’s very satisfying to see how much crud comes out of my rugs!
How often do you vacuum?
Once a week on average..or more if there’s been a cat fight!
My neighbor who has a very shedding dog bought himself a Roomba iRobot Vaccum. It vacuums once a day. He LOVES it!

As a pro, what’s your go-to knife?

I use a Zwilling too. But I find myself most often using the paring knife. I feel like I have more control.
There is something comforting about having a paring knife in your hands. it’s like riding the trusted pony rather than the bronco!
I like your metaphor. Maybe it’s because I have small hands. It feels like a better fit.

That would be a handy device, getting the dirt out of snow. Someone should invent that.
I have hard word floors in my new flat, I don’t like sweeping/dust mopping so I miss vacuuming.
*wood…I don’t know how autocorrect came up with hard work floors 🙂
Funny slip!
How nice that you have hard wood floors.
