What a perfect poem. I couldn’t bring myself to watch various videos but then saw them on tv and was brought to tears. I am white and middle class. I cannot begin to understand how black and brown Americans must feel seeing this happen over and over. And then some evil person highjacks a peaceful march and murders 5 innocent officers. Awful week.
I feel like witnessing the grief on these family’s faces is like waking up one morning and feeling the weight of their loss. I think this suffering will lead to a great awakening.
So very poignant and apropos. Thank you, Wendy.
The poem stopped me in my tracks.
As our old friend Kurt Vonnegut said, “There’s only one rule I know: Damn it, you’ve got to be kind!”
I’d never heard that quote. I love it!
Wendy, you have a gift for selecting perfect poems.
It was such a wrenching week.

I couldn’t watch the videos either. It was just too devastating.

I truly hope something good will emerge from all this tragedy.
