Last week, I had a near perfect day. I started with ballet class, then worked with several career change clients, and ended up cooking and finally eating some delicious baked ziti. Lucky for me that day, these activities were all on my list of things that make me happy. How do your lists stack up?

Wow, it really is quite simple and I make life so hard! Though I find it hard to pin down what makes me happy a lot of the time. This is food for thought.
I’m not saying that we get to do everything we want, but it’s good to remember what exactly that is.
I usually get stuck in thinking that I want really “big” things. But really it’s the small things that I truly love the most. I find it hard to settle in to an ordinary life. I think I have internalized a bit of our celebrity culture.
What part of celebrity life is most appealing to you?
Actually I think it’s social media culture and looking at everyone’s highlight reels.
Reading Facebook updates can be such a buzzkill.
I echo Dee with respect to the “food for thought”-ness of this image/text.
BTW, your day does sound perfect! Perfect days aren’t the ones with monumental happenings, but rather simple activities coming together. Whenever I’ve felt pure, unexpected joy, it’s always when I’m doing something like cooking, reading a cookbook, biking on a trail, shopping at the farmers market, or something relatively mundane like that.
My Sunday mornings at the Farmer’s Market are a highlight of the week.
Well, Wendy, today I put “eat cheese” on my list (because it makes me happy!) And I am delighted to report that she did, in fact, eat cheese. Of course, it was fairly easy, since I got back from a vacation to Wisconsin (foodie-themed road trip) and brought home 14 hard-to-find-in-Indiana new-to-me Wisconsin cheeses. Petit Nuage (fresh sheep’s milk cheese) was part of today’s breakfast, drizzled with a little dandelion honey.
That’s a GREAT thing for the list – something I happily do just about every day.
I used to do this activity of making a journal entry of all the little things that made me happy everyday. Sadly, I couldn’t continue it beyond a few days. This list is also something I need to look at. So simple yet so meaningful.
On a parallel note- can you guys please recommend any online caregiver support groups to me. My mom is home from the hospital and between my job and taking care of my mom, I am starting to feel overwhelmed. I did try to search on my own but am not finding the time to browse in detail. Appreciate any pointers from you all.
I’ll do some research Kavitha, and see what I can find out –
