Wow, tomato samples! I don’t think I ever got samples, save for some maple syrup, at my farmers market. But the one I go to is a small one.
Our market did open a couple of weeks ago, with restrictions. The location was moved, parking was moved, and only 50 people are allowed in at a time. I go early, so that’s not an issue. I wonder how that will work when temperatures warm up and the produce becomes more bountiful (with respect to fresh produce, it’s greens, radishes, and salad turnips right now). The experience isn’t exactly the same (you can’t touch the produce–you have to indicate to the vendor what you want) but it’s better than being cancelled.
I love tomatoes too. Specifically homegrown. Picked while warm from the sun and sliced on a sandwich! That’s heaven for me.
I look forward to tomato season every year!

Hollywood Farmers Market vendors are very generous with samples. One of many things I miss.
