This past Sunday afternoon, I took myself to the movies to see Ladybird. At the center of the story is a fraught mother-daughter relationship. And though it didn’t precisely mirror the fraught relationship I had with my mother, it rang true. I’m betting the film will be nominated for Best Picture, and I’m hoping the very talented writer/director Greta Gerwig will get a nomination, as well. Don’t miss it.
Yes, I agree. It was definitely well acted, directed and carried a sweet message. It’s nice not to leave a theater disappointed. I went out and rented Frances Ha afterward too. She’s one of the quieter talents but her movies are so rich with good stories about coming of age. Also, another good movie of a different topic is the Florida Project. It was a stunning movie.
I’ve heard great things about The Florida Project. It’s definitely on my list.
